Baxter man charged with stealing items from home

BAXTER, W.Va. (WDTV) -- A Baxter man is behind bars after allegedly stealing appliances and furniture from a home.

According to the criminal complaint, a washer, dryer, two Kitchen Aid mixers, and a bookcase stolen from a residence on Baxter Street were found at another residence on the street.

Officials say the items were found with 42-year-old John Jones, who claimed that he and another had bought the items from one of the residents at the other home. Police say further investigation found that the items were stolen and he tried to hide them.

Jones is charged with receiving and transferring stolen goods.

Officials say when they first investigated the burglary on November 14th, Jones was caught with drugs and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
