Basket bingo helps local woman fighting disease
Many locals may know Shawna Hardman as a fire fighter volunteer or the Assistant Chief for the Annmore Fire Department, but for the last five years she has been battling with alcohol-free liver disease.
With the support of the community, Shawna's aunt, Vickie Turner, hopes for the best outcome for the event to help with medical expenses.
"Shawna spent her whole life helping other people, we tried to get the community together, makes sense she helps everybody else." Turner said.
Due to Shawna's illness she is unable to continue to work at the fire department. But with the department's support she keeps pushing everyday.
"They've been a big influence. They've helped push me and support me through a lot of this so I wouldn't be anywhere without them." said Hardman
The basket bingo in support of Shawna's medical treatments is putting a smile on her face in more ways than one. Sunday's bingo event wasn't the first event to help with Shawna's expenses.
