Bridgeport man facing malicious assault charges; accused of touching young boy and punching pregnant mother in stomach

Clarksburg, W. Va. (WDTV) -- Disturbing allegations into an assault in a public bathroom has led to charges for a Bridgeport man.

Brent Lantz is charged with malicious assault.

According to the criminal complaint, authorities were called to the Walmart on Emily Drive just after 2:00 p.m. Sunday for a sexual assault complaint.

Clarksburg police say Lantz was using the men's restroom while his caretaker waited outside. The caretaker told police he heard a scream for help then ran into the bathroom.

Inside the restroom, Lantz was allegedly on the floor between two stalls with a woman trying to pull him off of a young boy. According to the victims, the woman, who is the young boy's mother is pregnant. According to police, Lantz punched the mother several times in her stomach while she was trying to pull him off her son.

Clarksburg police also told 5 News that Lantz was touching the young boy on his genitals.

Both victims were taken to the hospital. Their conditions have not been released.

Lantz is in jail on $50,000 bond.
