Clarksburg council schedules recount after canvass finds discrepancy

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WDTV Staff) -- After a special meeting Monday night, Clarksburg city council has determined a recount will take place because of a discrepancy in the votes for city council candidate Tyler Turner.

Mayor Cathy Goings announced Monday that they found 30 votes that were not transferred to candidate Tyler Turner and after applying them saw that the race was close by three or so votes.

This prompted the special meeting and will ultimately result in a recount scheduled for Monday, June 17, 2019.

The recount will be done in council chambers by four poll workers who will recount each ballot and each vote.

It will then determine if Gary Keith or Tyler Turner will take the third vacant council seat.
