UPDATE: Woman dies following fire in single family home in Harrison County

HARRISON COUNTY, W. Va. (WDTV) - UPDATE 01/10/20 2:00 p.m.
A woman is dead after a fire that appeared to have started in the bedroom of a home Friday morning, officials said.

According to West Milford Fire Chief John Elko, fire fighters responded to the single family home on Main Street at 8 a.m. for a smoke investigation.

The home had minimal fire damage, according to Elko

A woman believed to be in her late 80s died as a result of the fire, Elko said.

Elko said the cause of the fire is undetermined. West Virginia State Fire Marshal is doing a preliminary investigation.

Harrison County 911 Dispatch first reported there is a smoke investigation around 7:55 a.m. Friday morning near Main Street in West Milford.

Mount Clare Fire Department and Anmoore EMS arrived on the scene with light smoke showing.

West Milford Fire Department and Lost Creek Fire Department were also on scene.
