Dynamic Networking for small businesses

FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WDTV)-- The 10th annual DyNet conference kicked off, Thursday, with keynote speakers.

Michelle Christian, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration, spoke first about promoting government contracting for small businesses.

The networking event allows small businesses, from not only West Virginia but other states as well, to speak with federal agencies, prime contractors and other small businesses.

The new tax cuts bill includes opportunity zones, which Christian says have been a big benefit to small businesses.

"It's a great way for companies to invest in a community, bring their businiesses in, hire locally and really expand what they're already doing or start new in these opportunity zones," said Christian.

Participants had training workshops throughout the day on topics contracting, financing and management.
