Putnam County's Timothy Eads is ready to serve as the 66th Mountaineer Mascot. Eads was officially given the roll today at the "passing of the rifle" ceremony at the Erickson Alumni Center.
This year's mascot, Trevor Keiss of Elkins, passed on the Mountaineer musket to Eads in front of a packed crowd of friends, family and students. Many former Mountaineer mascots also were present and spoke about the role, impact and legacy of the Mountaineer.
Eads will get his first gig in the role this Saturday at 1 pm at Blue-Gold spring football game at Milan Puskar Stadium.
