Elkins woman charged after leading pursuit

RANDOLPH COUNTY, W.Va. (WDTV) -- An Elkins woman has been charged after leading a pursuit in the city.

According to the criminal complaint, officers tried to pull over a car that had been associated with a wanted person. The vehicle then led a pursuit beginning on Davis Avenue, continuing onto Tenth Street, and ending when the vehicle came to a stop near Duckview Apartments. Officials say the car sped down the roadways with other cars and pedestrians in the area.

Officials say the driver was identified as 20-year-old Kallee McLaughlin. When officers asked her where she was going she said she didn't know. When asked why she fled, McLaughlin said it was because she was stupid.

McLaughlin is charged with fleeing from an officer.
