Fairmont council appoints members of Human Rights Commission

MARION COUNTY, W. Va. (WDTV) - After controversy delayed it's progress, the Fairmont Human Rights Commission is moving forward with city council appointing it's seven members during their meeting Tuesday

The council voted forward all seven of the nominated members who were chosen by the interim city manager Bruce McDaniel who says he looked carefully at all of the 27 applicants but ultimately chose his candidates based on the values he wants to see reflected in the commission moving forward.

"I certainly looked for the people that I felt were applying for the right reasons, those reasons being to promote unity, harmony, and an inclusive community," McDaniel said

The seven nominees were confirmed by council unanimously.
