Fire destroys home in Elkins

ELKINS, W. Va. (WDTV) -- Flames destroyed a home in Elkins, Tuesday evening.

According to Elkins firefighters, they were called to the scene on Thorn Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Flames were already covering the home.

A 90-year-old man who lived there was able to get out safely with his dog. The home is a total loss.

Firefighters believe a propane heater sparked the blaze.

The homeowner is staying with family.
