Florida man charged with drug possession after running from police during traffic stop

FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WDTV) -- A Florida man has been arrested after he ran from police and was found with drugs during a traffic stop in Fairmont.

According to the criminal complaint, officers pulled over a car on Ridgely Avenue for a registration violation where the passenger was Marcal Johnson of Wewahitchka, Florida. When the car stopped, Johnson got out of the car and ran. An officer pursued Johnson on foot and saw Johnson take off his jacket and try to throw it on a nearby porch.

The officer was able to catch up with Johnson and take him into custody. Officers found bags of cocaine and heroin in the pocket Johnson's jacket.

Johnson, 33, is charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver.
