French Creek man arrested after admitting to breaking into home, stealing car

UPSHUR COUNTY, W.Va. (WDTV) -- A French Creek man has been arrested after police say he admitted to breaking into a home and stealing a car and gun.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim told police that a car had been stolen from out of his driveway at his home in Buckhannon, and that the keys had been hanging near the front of the door inside the home. Police say there was evidence that the home had been broken into and the suspect was eventually revealed to be 29-year-old David Lipps.

Officials say when police arrived at Lipps' residence, the missing car was there. Police say Lipps admitted to breaking into the victim's home, stealing the car keys and car as well as other items, including a gun.

Lipps is charged with burglary and grand larceny.
