UPDATE | Gilmer County Office of Emergency Management says police found no signs of bomb at Gilmer County High School

GILMER COUNTY, W.Va. (WDTV)-- UPDATE 08/22/19 @ 3:20 p.m.
According to Gilmer County Office of Emergency Management, Gilmer County High School was evacuated Thursday morning due to a bomb threat.

The office of emergency management says the school was put on lock down as law enforcement did a sweep of the building.

According to Glenville City Police Chief Benton Huffman, at 1 p.m. a sweep was complete with no signs of a bomb or material to make a bomb on the property.

The office of emergency management says students returned to the school and classes resumed as scheduled for the remainder of the school day.

State Police are investigating the threat, according to the office of emergency management.

According to Gilmer County Sheriff Larry Gerwig, students returned to Gilmer County High School following an evacuation Thursday morning.

Gilmer County Office of Emergency Management officials say that law enforcement gave an all clear that the school was safe for students to return.

According to the Gilmer County Sheriff Larry Gerwig, police are still at Gilmer County High School investigating a possible threat.

Gerwig says bomb sniffing K9 unit's are on their way to the school.

The school was evacuated Thursday morning, according to Gerwig.

The office of emergency management says parents who wish to pick up their children can do so at the WACO Center.

The office of emergency management says that all county school buses are running on their normal schedule.
