Gov. Justice issues proclamation for special legislative session

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WDTV) -- Governor Jim Justice issued a proclamation Thursday calling for state legislators to convene for a special session on Monday, October 16 to address legislation.

According to the governor’s office, topics for the session include a bill that exempts military retirement from state personal income tax, and a bill increasing the amount of credit allowed against personal and corporation net income tax for qualified historic rehabilitation expenditures.

The office says that according to Chief of Staff Mike Hall, a bill that addresses Department of Transportation hiring policies and other legislation may also be addressed during the session.

The call does coincide with the Legislature’s regular interim meetings that are scheduled to begin Sunday and continue through October 17.
