Grafton man charged with leading a pursuit while under the influence

TAYLOR COUNTY, W.Va. (WDTV) -- A Grafton man has been charged after leading a pursuit in Taylor County Saturday.

According to the criminal complaint, an officer was going to pull 26-year-old Dylan Peters over when they noticed the car Peters was driving had an expired registration.

Officers say the pursuit began on Simpson Road and ended on Sandy Hollow Road. They say that during the pursuit, Peters repeatedly passed cars over the yellow line and went over 70 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone. The pursuit lasted around 5 1/2 miles.

After the pursuit ended, officers conducted field sobriety tests on Peters, which were failed. Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found in the car.

Peters is charged with fleeing while DUI and reckless fleeing, with a drug possession charge pending.
