Harrison County Sheriff's Office warning people of scam

HARRISON COUNTY, W.Va. (WDTV)-- The Harrison County Sheriff's Office is warning people of a new scam circulating the area.

According to a Facebook post from the sheriff's office, an email is sent saying that you have been citied with a traffic violation and you must pay the citation within 72 hours. The email also says that they have a payment plan if necessary, a list the details of the citation and how to pay.

The Sheriff's offices says that all citations must be paid online through their Easy Pay Center.

According to the post, the email looks legit.

The sheriff's office says that if you receive an email like this, do not respond to it.
