BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. (WDTV)- Hurricane Nate will be affecting West Virginia Sunday and the beginning of the week. The storm will bring heavy rainfall and strong winds.
Hurricane Nate developed in the Gulf of Mexico and is going to make landfall along the Mississippi and Alabama Coast. These areas are expecting to see strong storm surge, hurricane strength winds and between 3 to 6 inches of rain. Nate's path is to move through Alabama across eastern parts of Tennessee and Kentucky.
When Hurricane Nate gets to West Virginia a cold front will be effecting us as well giving the remnants more uplift. For us we will see heavy rainfall and strong winds Sunday and into Monday. Some areas can see up to an inch of rainfall.
West Virginia temperatures will be a little above average with Hurricane Nate bringing in warmer air from the South. We will see highs in the upper 70s and one or two low 80s. Lows will also be above normal as well with low 60s.
