Kate's Corner: Candy Corn Volcano

BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. (WDTV) - Keeping with the fall fun theme it's time for another experiment. This one is called the Candy Corn Volcano.

What you'll need is a play-doh, a funnel, baking soda, and vinegar.

So find a funnel around your house and this will be out volcano base. To make it look like a candy corn though, we are going to cover it with yellow, orange, and white play-doh. Next you are going to put some baking soda into a container under the volcano. I just used one of the play-doh tubs. Now to get your eruption, pour white vinegar into the volcano. And there you have your candy corn volcano.

The eruption comes from something as simple as a chemical reaction. When you pour the vinegar into the volcano and on the baking soda, the two combine and create carbon dioxide bubbles that bubble up and through the volcano. The baking soda is a base but the vinegar is an acid.
