BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. (WDTV) - Kids of all ages had a chance to pick a book and read to "Liberty" at the Bridgeport Public Library on Saturday. This is part of the library's "Books and Barks" program.
Volunteers from "Mountaineer Therapy Dogs" rotate once a month, and bring their dogs, that are certified great listeners. This program is set to help kids improve their reading skills.
"it just gives them the opportunity to have someone that's not judgmental," said volunteer Michelle Marshall. "Plus, there's no stress when you get a visit with the dog, love with the dog, play with the dog."
"Books and Barks" is offered every first Saturday of the month starting at 1:30 p.m.
