CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WDTV) -- Governor Jim Justice has accepted the resignation of Tom Lange from the West Virginia School Building Authority.

In a letter to the SBA's executive director, David Roach, Lange said he felt the changes made to the department weren't in the best interest of taxpayers.

"I have thought a great deal on the changes you have been directed to make and philosophically believe the changes aren’t in the best interest of WV taxpayers. So as of Friday, July 13, I am terminating my appointment to the School Building Authority," Lange said.

In response to the resignation, SBA chairman Brian Abraham stated, “In his email, Mr. Lange referred to changes being made that aren’t beneficial to the taxpayers of West Virginia. If he is referring to continuing the decades-long practice of backroom deals and private meetings that have taken place, instead of an open, fair and transparent process we are now putting into effect so that every county receives the same treatment and consideration, then we will just have to agree to disagree.”
