MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (WDTV)-- May 15 is recognized throughout the country as a day to honor all law enforcement officers who've lost their lives in the line of duty.
Morgantown Police Chief, Ed Preston, says each agency has suffered a loss, so they take the time to remember them and what they did while serving the community.
The wreath laying ceremony is a way to memorialize and pay respects.
"It has a lot of different connotations to everybody involved in a law enforcement community because, unfortunately, we know when we go to work and when we put on a uniform we might not come home that night," said Chief Preston.
Those who attended include the Sheriff's Office, State Police, University Police and several others.
