MONONGALIA COUNTY, W. Va. (WDTV) - The local chapter of Northwestern Mutual and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for kids organization partnered for the second year in a row to give back to foster kids in Monongalia and Preston county.
Northwestern mutual raised money to fill over 30 personalized backpacks filled with items such as new shoes, blankets, water bottles.
The goal is to be able to provide kids with things they can call their own no matter where they are living.
"Sometimes they have very few things they can call their own, so any time the community can recognize that need and do right by all the kids in our community is really great," said Diana Mazzella, a CASA volunteer.
This year the groups more than doubled the amount of backpacks they were able to donate.
CASA for kids will be delivering the filled and personalized backpacks to kids across the area just in time for the holidays.
