Man arrested for social media threat to shoot up theater

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WDTV)-- Bridgeport Police have arrested a man accused of making threats towards the Cinemark Movie Theater at Meadowbrook Mall.

According to the Bridgeport Police Department, authorities received a call from employees at the theater regarding a social media Snapchat post from Mason James Taylor from Taylor County.

The Snapchat post was a picture of the theater's lobby with text that said “Instead of shooting up schools, how about we start shooting up movie theaters? First ones on me.”

Taylor was quickly located and taken into custody without incident. Taylor has been charged with one felony count of Threats of Terrorist Acts and was taken to the North Central Regional Jail.

The Bridgeport Police Department is handling the investigation. The Taylor County Sheriff’s Department is assisting.
