UPDATE: Name released of man killed by Montgomery officer

MONTGOMERY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- UPDATE
Deputies have released the name of a man killed in an officer-involved shooting in Montgomery, West Virginia.

Eric Young, 34, of Montgomery, died Monday, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened on 3rd Avenue, just about a block from Montgomery City Hall.

Montgomery Police Chief Paris Workman says an officer heard a disturbance and went to check on it when he shot and killed a man. No other details are available right now about what happened.

The officer is on paid administrative leave during the investigation. Workman says the officer has three years of experience.
