BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WDTV) -- After serving his sentence in prison, Arthur Baxter is back behind bars.
According to Bridgeport Police Chief John Walker, the chaos began Wednesday afternoon.
"We received a call at 3:25 p.m. this afternoon that a woman had been taken at gunpoint from a retail establishment in Fairmont," said Walker.
Police say Baxter then dropped the woman off at a hotel in Bridgeport where he was staying and tried to sexually assault her.
The woman fought Baxter. She was able to escape and called police.
While on their way to the hotel, Walker says they got another call about a robbery in progress.
"So while responding to the hotel, we get a call to Bridgeport family Pharmacy for a robbery in progress there."
Then Baxter allegedly made his way to the Bridgeport Family Pharmacy after leaving the hotel, where he tried to steal money and pills.
This is when police spotted the reported stolen vehicle.
"We spotted the vehicle on 279 and conducted a traffic stop," said Walker.
At the time, Baxter was only a person of interest, but Walker says it was clear he was their guy.
"There was enough initial evidence to indicate that he was the one we were looking for both incidents," said Walker.
Baxter currently resides in North Central Regional Jail.
