Man in custody, four police cruisers damaged in pursuit

HARRISON COUNTY, W.Va. (WDTV) -- A man was taken into custody after leading a pursuit in Doddridge and Harrison counties Friday.

Officials say a deputy in Doddridge County attempted to pull over Chad Collins after he was clocked going 90 miles per hour on Route 50. They say Collins sped up to around 120 MPH and he was pursued into Harrison County.

Spike strips were used by officials to stop Collins' car. Authorities say Collins admitted to being high on methamphetamine.

Officials say that four police cruisers were damaged in the pursuit, but no officers were hurt.

Collins was taken to United Hospital Center and is currently in the custody of the Harrison County Sheriff's Department, who assisted in stopping Collins.
