UPDATE: Man sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually abusing a minor

A man was sentenced on Monday to 20 years imprisonment for sexually abusing a minor.

According to the Harrison County Prosecuting Attorney's office, Christopher Whitehair was also sentenced to 40 years of supervised release.

Whitehair will be eligible for parole when he is 52, according to the prosecuting attorney's office.

Whitehair pleaded guilty to two counts sexual abuse as a parent or guardian, one count of incest and one count of sexual abuse in the first degree on August 14.

Whitehair was sentenced by Judge Chris McCarthy.

A man pleaded guilty Wednesday to sexually abusing a minor.

According to the Harrison County Prosecuting Attorney's office, Christopher Whitehair pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual abuse as a parent/guardian, one count of incest and one count of sexual abuse in the first degree.

Whitehair will be sentenced to 20-60 years of imprisonment if the judge in the Harrison County Circuit Court accepts the plead agreement, according to the prosecuting attorney's office.

The prosecuting attorney's office says that Whitehair will have to register as a sex offender.

Whitehair is schedule to appear in court September 23 at 3 p.m., according to the prosecuting attorney's office.
