FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WDTV) The Marion County Commission today adopted a resolution in support of a new highway.
It would connect Eldora in Marion County with Enterprise in Harrison County.
The resolution urges governor Jim Justice to consider the highway for part of the roads to prosperity construction program.
The commission's president said the project was initially proposed 20 years ago. He wants the governor to reconsider widening I-79 near Fairmont to three lanes, and instead focus on this project.
"It seems to me like a waste of money," Ernie VanGilder said. "We already had a project like that and they spent the money and did nothing. We need to get the governor more involved.
The Harrison County Commission approved a similar resolution at its last meeting. Shinnston and White Hall councils have also joined in supporting the project.
