Marion County Senior Center adds new food truck to their fleet

FAIRMONT, W.Va (WDTV)- Many senior citizens in our area are getting their hands on free meals this summer, all thanks to a very special food truck.

The Marion County Senior Center actively works year-round to deliver meals to 117 homebound seniors throughout the week. Recently the center ran into an obstacle when they were short one food truck for their routes.

State and federal money is not available for this type of purchase, therefore funding was an issue. The county and community rose to the challenge, donating the amount needed to provide these meals on wheels.

Officials with the center say they are very blessed to add another vehicle to their fleet. Debbie Harvey, Executive Director, says this program provides an invaluable source of food to seniors, but also a daily smile.

“This may be the only hot meal they are receiving that day and our workers may be the only person they see,” Debbie sys.

The hot-cold truck was officially blessed Thursday morning and will be in service immediately.
