MARION COUNTY, W. Va. Marion County held their 17th Annual Child Watch Visitation Day in Fairmont on Thursday.
The event offers a unique opportunity to visit facilities addressing the needs of abused and neglected children through the eyes of the children in these programs.
Members of the community were invited to tour the actual locations where these children receive services.
Organizers of the event say their goal is to heighten awareness and to mobilize community volunteers.
The Director of CASA in Marion County, Vesna Meinert, says “opening our eyes about what happens to them, increases our awareness, and hopefully calls us to become more involved in the community in some way.”
In Marion County, 172 children were involved in abuse and neglect cases in 2018.
