MONONGALIA COUNTY, W.Va. (WDTV)-- The Monongalia County Sheriff's Office is alerting the public of another telephone scam circulating around Mon County.

According to the sheriff's office, the caller identifies himself as "Deputy Hamlin" from the Mon County Sheriff's office telling the person that they have missed jury duty.

According to the sheriff's office, the caller will tell the person that they will be arrested unless they pay a fine by purchasing green dot cards or something similar, and give them the numbers off of the cards.

According to the sheriff's office, the number that appears on the caller ID is the sheriff's office number.

The sheriff's office says that they will not call people for missing jury duty.

The sheriff's office says that if you get a call like this, hang up and report the call to your local law enforcement agency.
