Morgantown Police investigate potential school threat

MONONGALIA COUNTY, W. Va. (WDTV) - At around 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening Morgantown police received reports of possible violence against South Middle school.

In a press release officers say that after conducting interviews, police were able to identify a fight between two students that happened Thursday afternoon as the source of the rumors.

Social media posts embellishing on the story of the fight led concerned people to report possible threats to the police.

The department worked along with the Pennsylvania State Police and Westover police to identify the source of the threat and have determined that there are no credible threats of violence against the school.
