SABRATON, W.Va (WDTV) - It has been almost two weeks since a 15-foot python got loose in Morgantown.
Since then, people have poked fun at the story and now some have even started to think the whole thing may not even be true.
"I've not seen any sign of the snake," said Craig Colebank.
"It's probably going to be the only 15 foot snake slithering around the Sabraton area," said MECCA 911 director Jim Smith.
Almost two weeks have gone by since the original report that it escaped from its enclosure near Listravia Avenue.
There haven't been any photos or videos released to the public. Smith says first responders in the area know it's still on the loose and the precautionary steps are still the same. Smith says based on information first responders have received --
"It's not an aggressive animal," he said. "It's probably as scared of you as you are of it."
When we asked MECCA officials if it's a hoax --
"Right now, all I can say is we do not believe it is a hoax," Smith said. "We believe we have credible information that this snake did get loose."
"I'm not a snake person but I'm smart enough -- if I see a large snake, I'm going to leave it alone," Colebank said.
Colebank has been keeping an eye on this for the last couple of weeks, but even he has some questions about if it's really out there.
"I need some concrete evidence," Colebank said. "I took it at face value at first but at this point, until I get something a little more concrete, I'm skeptical."
