Nicewarner pleads guilty to sexual misconduct with young girl
The former head football coach of Bridgeport High School and teacher at Liberty High School has pleaded guilty to charges related to sexual misconduct with a 14-year-old girl.
Joshua Nicewarner, 35, pleaded guilty Wednesday to two felony counts: distribution to a minor of obscene matter and solicitation of a minor via a computer.
A grand jury in January indicted Nicewarner on those two charges, as well as one count of sexual abuse.
Under the terms of the plea agreement, the state agreed to dismiss that count with prejudice.
At one point during the hearing, Nicewarner recounted knowingly carrying on an inappropriate relationship with the girl and admitted to sending pictures that were sexual in nature.
The two charges carry a collective penalty of 2-15 years. Nicewarner is also required to register as a sexual offender.
Nicewarner will remain free on bond, until his sentencing date which is set for April 30.
