UPDATE: Power quickly being restored after hit-and-run in Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WDTV) -- UPDATE 1/11/19 3:31 p.m.
Part of West Main Street remain closed as crew work to repair a power line that was damaged after a truck struck it earlier today.

Traffic is being re-routed on South Center Street.

Power is quickly being restored after a utility pole was hit by a truck on Bridgeport Friday afternoon.

In a matter of minutes power has been restored to hundreds of customers.

Police say the accident happened at around 2:45 p.m. and the truck left the scene.

5 News is awaiting further details.

Over 1,000 customers in the Bridgeport area are without power, according to Mon Power.

Officials believe this is due to an accident involving a utility pole near Bridgeport High School.

Power is expected to be back on at 5:00 p.m.
