UPDATE: Gas line repairs have been completed, service to be restored to impacted customers

According to Dominion Energy, repairs to the impacted line have been completed. Dominion Energy introducing gas back into the system.

Within the hour, 5 News is told that technicians will begin safely restoring service to each impacted customer. They will also come back in the morning to restore those businesses already closed for the night.

UPDATE 08/13/19 @ 3:47 p.m.
According to Dominion Energy West Virginia, the gas line strike at the Suncrest Towne Center Tuesday afternoon was caused by a contractor.

Parts of Suncrest Towne Center were evactuated, according to 911 officials.

Dominion Energy Communications Specialist Samantha Norris says they have supervisors and technicians on scene.

Norris says that nearly 80 commercial building will experience a service interruption until later Tuesday evening.

Norris says emergency personal are on scene and have created a safety perimeter.

Parts of Suncrest Towne Center were evacuated Tuesday afternoon, according to Monongalia County 911 officials.

911 officials say that the reason for the evacuation is due to a gas leak.

911 officials say Star City Volunteer Fire Department and Dominion Hope are on scene.
