Pedestrian struck during Morgantown power outage

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WDTV) -- The Morgantown Police Department says a 21-year-old man was hit by a vehicle in the Suncrest area during a power outage that affected traffic lights Thursday.

Police say the man suffered minor injuries when he darted out between stopped eastbound vehicles and was struck by a car heading westbound. MPD says the accident happened near the intersection of Van Voorhis Road and Burroughs Street and that the victim was not in a crosswalk at the time.

The victim has been cited for failure to use a crosswalk.

MPD says this was the only accident reported during the outage.
