Pedestrian symposium provides safety practices for the community

MONONGALIA COUNTY, W.Va. (WDTV)-- The pedestrian safety symposium was held at the Erickson Alumni Center at WVU. It included open discussion on traffic safety, transportation and bicycle studies.

Officials say the overall goal of the event is to teach people on how to stay safe and to allow people to suggest ways to improve this issue.

"We're looking at crosswalks, we're looking at improvements in lighting, we're looking at improvements in sidewalks so a number of things would help pedestrians and vehicles in this community be able to coexist better," said Ron Justice, government relations at West Virginia University.

The West Virginia Local Technical Assistance Program will hold two more programs on June 12 and 13.
