MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WDTV) - Dogs, cats, and even goats were expected at Trinity Episcopal church in Downtown Morgantown Sunday afternoon.
One churchgoer who moved here from Louisiana said that blessing pets is as important because of their role in the family.
"They're furry family members, and they're almost like our kids." said Jackie Heroman. "We don't have kids yet, but we will one day. They're just as important and they're always there for us."
Reverend Michael Hadaway has done events like this in other churches. He has come across animals other than the common cats and dogs.
"The biggest animal I've seen is a horse, but we won't see any of those today," Hadaway said. "You mostly are going to get dogs and cats, we usually get a sheep or two and some goats."
This is the second time Trinity Episcopal has put on an event like this. They hope to continue it again for next year and the years to come.
