UPDATE: Person arrested for murder of Fairmont man

FAIRMONT, W. Va. (WDTV) -- UPDATE 5/23/18

An arrest has been made in the murder of a Fairmont man.

According to the Marion County Sheriff Jimmy Riffle, a person has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder for the death of 21-year-old Dustin Myers. Myers was found dead on May 21 inside a car that went over an embankment into a creek in Marion County.

Myers body was sent to the medical examiner's office in Charleston. Officials say the person arrested allegedly shot and killed him.

No further details, including the identity of the person, is being released at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

Officials have identified the body of the person found inside a car that went over an embankment into a creek in Marion County.

According to the Sheriffs Department, the person has been identified as 21-year-old Dustin Myers of Fairmont.

Myers body is being sent to the medical examiner's officer in Charleston.

Further details surrounding the incident have not been released at this time.

The Marion County Sheriff's Department said one person was found dead in a car that went over an embankment into a creek, Monday night.

The Sheriff told a 5 News reporter on scene this is being investigated as a homicide.

No other details are available at this time. The Sheriff's Department plans to release more as the investigation continues.

In addition to the Sheriff's Department, the Winfield Fire Department and the Marion County Rescue Squad were on scene.


Police are investigating after a car went off the road and into a creek.

According to dispatchers, the call came in around 10 p.m. The accident happened along Pinchgut Hollow Road.

There's no word on injuries at this time.
