UPDATE: Names of victim and suspect released in Elkins murder/suicide

West Virginia State Police have identified the two people involved in the apparent murder-suicide in Elkins Monday as Ricky Cooper, 36, of Randolph County, and Savanah Bays, 23, of Taylor County.

As we reported yesterday, police allege Cooper shot and killed Bays, before turning the gun on himself.

As of Tuesday, police have not determined a motive, but say the incident is consistent with an altercation that escalated.

It's not clear who owned the gun.

According to Sergeant Michael Anderson with state police, a handgun was recovered at the scene of an apparent murder/suicide at Novus Auto Glass in Randolph County.

Anderson says a 36-year-old man is believed to have killed his 23-year-old girlfriend, before killing himself.

Officials say it was not uncommon for the man to be at the business at odd hours, and owners of nearby businesses say that his girlfriend was sometimes with him.

Both bodies were discovered by the owner of the business at around 8 a.m. Monday. A timeline has not yet been established, but police believe the incident occurred sometime between late Sunday night and early Monday morning.

Anderson says a handgun was discovered at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.

According to West Virginia State Police, an initial investigation determined a man and a woman found at a business in Randolph County died in a murder/suicide.

Officials say the bodies were discovered by the owner of Novus Glass in Randolph County around 8 a.m. Monday morning.

Officials say an initial investigation showed evidence that the victims, another employee and his girlfriend, had been involved in a domestic violence altercation. Investigators believe the man killed his girlfriend and then took his own life.

The investigation is ongoing.

According to West Virginia State Police, the bodies found at Novus Glass in Randolph County belonged to a male employee and a female that he was believed to have been in a relationship with.

The bodies were discovered around 8 a.m. by another employee.

Police believe the man and woman found were involved in a domestic situation.

Officials are still processing the scene. Police say they are not seeking any person of interest at this time. The cause of the deaths is still being investigated.

Initial reports indicated that the bodies found were of two women.

An investigation is underway after the bodies of two women were reportedly found in a Randolph County business.

According to 911 dispatchers, the bodies were discovered at Novus Glass on the Beverly Five-Lane. State Police were on the scene much of Monday morning.
