BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WDTV)-- Bridgeport City Council announced the new City Manager after months of reviewing applications.
Randy Wetmore will be taking on the role as the City Manager.
A few months ago the council decided not to renew current City Manager Kim Haws's contract.
Mayor Andy Lang says they had about 16 candidates for the position. Wetmore's experience is what Lang says makes him perfect for the job.
While in search for a replacement the city hired a firm, which cost $22,500 of taxpayer and city money.
Lang says Wetmore has a lot of experience after working in several cities both big and small.
"He has 30 years of experience in municipal government in a few other cities. He met all of the criteria and just seemed to be the right person for the job," said Lang.
Wetmore is expected to begin on July 1 when the contract is finalized.
