UPDATE 8/2/18 11:55AM

The State Department of Health and Human Resources Division of Family Assistance announced Thursday that they are extending the application period for school clothing vouchers.

The deadline has been changed to August 10 due to the passage of Senate Bill 186, which changed the age requirement to enroll in the state's Pre-K programs. The clothing voucher program will now include students enrolled in Pre-K or West Virginia Head Start that turned 4 years old by July 1, 2018.

The $200 vouchers can be used for purchasing clothing for kids enrolled in state schools or piece goods for families who sew clothing. The vouchers must be redeemed by October 31. For a list of participating stores, you can visit the Related Link (to the right on desktop, below on mobile.)

Officials say the application deadline is extended for all families applying for the program. Dor more information or to apply, you can contact your local DHHR office, call 1-877-716-1212, or apply online at wvinroads.org.

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services' Division of Family Assistance will begin accepting school clothing allowance voucher applications this coming Monday.

The $200 vouchers can be used for purchasing clothing for kids enrolled in state schools or piece goods for families who sew clothing. The vouchers must be redeemed by October 31. For a list of participating stores, you can visit the Related Link (to the right on desktop, below on mobile.)

Officials say the allowances are automatically available to families with school-aged kids in the foster care program or who receive WV WORKS cash assistance. Those participants should receive their vouchers by mid-July.

Families who received the vouchers in 2017 and currently receive Medicaid or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits should have received an application by mail in June. Officials say mailing address updates can be made by calling 1-877-716-1212 or visiting wvinroads.org.

Other families may apply for the vouchers. To be eligible, the monthly income for a family of four must not be greater than $2,092. For more information on requirements, you can visit wvinroads.org or call 1-877-716-1212.

Applications are due to your local DHHR office by July 31. An income verification for July is required to be submitted with the application.
