Senators Manchin and Capito announce more than $7.5 million for West Virginia Airports

Morgantown Municipal Airport is one of the airports to receive funding.

WASHINGTON (WDTV)-- U.S. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), members of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, announced more than $7.5 million from the U.S Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration for airport improvement and construction throughout the West Virginia.

According to Manchin's office, the funding will help remove obstructions, construct buildings, improve runways and enhance airport quality.

“It is crucial for all West Virginia airports to receive the proper resources and improvements needed to maintain the safety and efficiency of our airports," said Manchin. "As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to fight for more funding for West Virginia to help continue to grow our economy by expanding and maintaining our airports”

“Investing in West Virginia airports not only keeps passengers and personnel safe, but it also fuels growth and boosts our economy," said Capito. "From runway rehabilitation to new buildings, these grants will help our airports better serve the needs of our state, ensuring West Virginia remains a competitive destination to fly.”

State of West Virginia-- $400,000
Fairmont Municipal-Franklin Field-- $91,800
Greenbrier Valley-- $142,500
Morgantown Municipal-Walter L Bill Hart Field-- $867,000
Grant County-- $85,000
Philippi/Barbour County Regional-- $88,991
Kee Field-- $300,000
Braxton County-- $600,000
Tri-State/Milton J Ferguson Field-- $4.8 million
