Saige Sprouse's spirit is contagious, at least that's what her Lincoln Cougar track teammates and coaches say.
"She just adds to the energy. There hasn't been that much energy in a while," senior Steven Anton said.
Sprouse is a freshman on the Lincoln track team and ran the 100 and 200 meter events for the Cougars this spring. But her contributions to the team go far beyond those meters.
"A couple of times we didn't place where we wanted to place. She helps us out there and cheers us up," Head Coach Ty Collins said.
Saige has down syndrome, and is part of the special needs program at Lincoln High. She is the only one from her class on an athletic team, and the only track athlete with special needs in the WVSSAC.
