BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. (WDTV) - A chilly start to the day today is followed by plummeting temperatures this afternoon. Early this morning, a cold front brought rain showers across the region. Since then, cold air has been funneling into the mountain state with temperatures dropping for the entire day so far. A few rain showers are turning to snow showers in the higher terrain.
Overall, we should dry out by late this afternoon and tonight, but colder air will be settling in. Temperatures overnight once again will crash below freezing and Freeze Warnings are already going into effect tonight. Some relief is on the way for this weekend as temperatures will climb back into the mid and upper 60's by Sunday. It looks to be a pattern that will stick around through at least the middle of next week.
