MARION COUNTY, W. Va. (WDTV) - The U.S Small Business Administration (SBA) held a special dinner celebrating a group of business leaders from across the state.
Almost a dozen leaders from different small businesses participated in a six-month intensive course called the Emerging Leader's Program.
The course gave business leaders a chance to learn from experienced coaches and mentors.
It also gave entrepreneurs a chance to connect with their peers to help strengthen the small business community in West Virginia.
The SBA says the program is vital to creating jobs and growing the state's economy.
"It's important that these small business give back to their communities and they hire local," SBA Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator Michelle Christian said "The money goes back into infrastructure, it goes back into the schools, it goes back into helping little league. It goes back to everyone, and it's really circular, and it's building the nation's economy,"
This was the first year for the emerging leaders program in West Virginia.
