Scottie's first opened in the 1970s and is known for delicious, homestyle meals and quick, friendly service.

Elizabeth Bowers started working at the diner in high school, then bought the business in 2011. Now, she runs it with her husband and her daughter, Susan.

'It's a very casual, down-to-earth atmosphere, everybody here is like family, we know them by their first name. We know their drink and usually what they want to eat," said Susan.

People flock to Scottie's for the all-day breakfast, classic cheeseburgers, and homestyle supper.

"I really like the baked steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and stuff like that," said Steve Wilt, a regular customer who comes in several days a week to have breakfast with friends.

"Their Philly steaks are great and they have the best cheeseburgers in the state," said David Broschart, who eats lunch at the restaurant every weekday.

The kitchen uses the original recipes and locally sourced ingredients.

"Never frozen meat, made to order. We use a lot of fresh produce from here locally as well," Susan said.

In addition to the delicious food, the diner is known for unbeatable service.

"Great waitresses, friendly," said David Miller. Miller has been eating at the diner since it first opened and his favorite meal is the liver and onions.

"They're all very friendly and even the girls in the kitchen, I've gotten to know a couple of them," said Mary Richards, who has been a regular customer for 12 years.

Richards continued, "Your coffee cup is never empty."

"Best waitresses in the country," said Broschart.

Most of Scottie's customers have been eating there for years; some, since diner opened over four decades ago. The regulars say they'll keep coming back for as long as they can.

"It's kind of like my second home; the food is good and Liz (Elizabeth Bowers) is a sweetheart," said Wilt.

Broschart added, "It's that hometown feeling; everybody knows everybody. It's like 'Cheers' only it's a place you eat lunch."

Susan wants to remind people that, on February 14, Scottie's will be featuring their annual Valentine's Day special: a prime rib dinner with twice baked potatoes and other sides.
