Teacher suspended after writing controversial book retires

HARRISON COUNTY, W.Va. (WDTV) -- The Lincoln High School teacher suspended for writing a controversial book about his students has retired, according to Harrison County Schools Superintendent Dr. Mark Manchin.

Board members accepted the decision at Tuesday's board meeting.

James Crosby was suspended indefinitely with pay last week, after school officials were made aware of a book that contained salacious details about students' sex lives.

Dr. Manchin told 5 News last week that it appeared Crosby included real names of current and former students.

Crosby could not be reached for comment Thursday.
