HARRISON COUNTY, W. Va. (WDTV) - The Benedum Airport Authority had its meeting on Wednesday. There were many items on the agenda including consideration to start projects that can help expand the Central West Virginia Airport.
One of them was a consideration to establish matching funds for a grant. Another important item was a consideration of developing a five-acre lot.
According to the authority, it will be housing storage for local businesses. This would have an industrial access where there’s no runway access. Officials at the meeting say that this could bring more opportunities to the area.
"We'll have access from route 50. It will provide significant parking and up to six buildings and we're also applying for an industrial park," said Ernie Vangilder, vice-president of the authority.
Also in the meeting, the airport authority named its new deputy director. Long-time employee Shawn Long will be taking the position that’s been vacant for almost a decade.
